Jaime – (Toronto)
The daughter of a barber and a beautician, Jaime took a special interest in hair styling as a young child. Since her apprenticeship at age 13, Jaime has taken her hair clipping art across continents stretching from Toronto to Vancouver, New York, to Hong Kong and Japan.
Through her extensive career she has won many hair awards (Looks International Award (Japan), 2006; Miss Hong Kong Make-up and Hair Award, 1991), and has performed in various international fashion shows (Miss Hong Kong Pageant, 1991; Armani 1999; Versace and D&G 1998).
In 1984, Jaime graduated from George Brown College, a renowned cosmetology school in Canada; she later trained with and was certified by Vidal Sassoon Academy.
In 1994, Jaime founded Matisse Blue Nude Salon in Toronto, Canada and specialized in relaxing, texturing, color techniques, hair extensions, with focuses on creative African hair styles and innovative techniques.
Mimmo - (Toronto)
Following the passion of his brother as a young stylist, Mimmo mastered his own creativity specializing in showy cuts, bold colors and headfirst trends. His signature cuts have won him many tour trips across the United States as well as Canada participating in numerous fashion shows.
Mimmo started off as an apprentice to some of the top celebrity hairstylists in Toronto after graduating from George Brown College in 1977, and soared into a flamboyant styling career all the way to creating and owning his many successful salons.
Denise - (Toronto)
Growing up as a young Afro-Canadian,Denise enjoyed the tradition of cornrowing on each other’s hair since age thirteen. At age eighteen, her mom allowed the girls to relax each other’s hair, however facing severe acne problem as a teen Denise learned quickly the effectiveness of herbal remedies and the power of plants like Aloe Vera; spearmints and believe it or not apple cider vinegar.
For Denise, home remedies turned into strong beliefs which kindled her calling to real practices and career, and joining Matisse will allow her to soar to grander sky in the hair art. Denise’s styles and forms were motivated by her most admired artist Jay Manuel and Errol Douglas.
Denise is advancing her art in creating an authentic brand that will soon be on every displays and shelves of exquisite salons and spas. Denise loved to use esteemed art brands like Schwarzkopf, Optimum and Mizani as they always give her a little “avant-garde” touch.
Marion - (Miami)
Marion joins Matisse with an impressive international experience both in the hair art world and in the make-up world. Coming from a flamboyant career and an inspiring reputation Marion is excited to bring Matisse’s image to the next level.
After her graduation, Marion practiced with the most eminent artists in various disciplines such as Cuts; Colorimetric; Trichology, social and artistic make-up. Marion continued to refine her artworks with experiences that traveled from Germany to France,Italy, and Spain then all the way to Buenos Aires, Argentina where she created her brand salon “Marion Hair Design”.
Vidal Sassoon was Marion’s first and foremost master inspirer,and her favorite art tools are L’Oreal de Paris, AlfaParf, and Lancôme as these all reflect her finesse style and the always sophisticated forms.
Jessica Art – (Miami)
Jessica Art, with a touch of California’s spice, had just moved to Miami and she is turning a new leaf with her beauty career. Jessica has a big appetite for art, music and pop cult along with the increasing art scenes in Miami Jessica will be embarking on a bright future here.
Jessica Art, like her last name, is profoundly expressive when it comes to colors and styles, when she first launched her styling career 8 years ago she immediately realized her creative nature and from then she has been deeply devoted to her passionate art.
Jessica has also expanded her creative side to the make-up frontier, and she will play a grander role to Matisse’s launch of Jane Iredale, one of the top cosmetic lines in the industry…coming July 10th, 2013
Eva - (Toronto)
“As artists we are manifesting thought into reality every time we create” ~Cristina Acosta. Eva brings to Matisse over a decade of hard earned fame as a beautician from Vietnam and in the US. When Co-founder Jeanne stumbled on this little gem, she saw Eva as a true born talent in her skills and expertise.
Eva is well versed in nail art, massage as well as mink-lash extensions (one of Vietnam’s most renown beauty services), and she practiced in some of the most elite salons in South Asia like Ba-Le Well, a British owned salon, and Victoria Hoi-An.
Eva’s work exhibits the difference between work and a work of art. Her services at Matisse will include all nail arts (including nouveau technique “Bio-gel overlay”); hydro-facials; Micronesian Therapy Massage; and mink or synthetic lash extensions. Jeanne – (Art Director)
Also born and raised in a family of stylists, Jeanne always had an eye for style and color. At a young age she enjoyed designing dresses, accessories and shoes for her many friends and sisters.
After graduating from the University of Toronto, Jeanne pursued and prospered in an extensive 27-year career in sales and marketing. Throughout that rewarding career, Jeanne held various senior executive roles that enhanced her creative side, including President of ICall Communications Inc.; Senior Vice President of Marketing for Visioneer Calling Card Inc.; President of Retail for TelePlus Retail Services; Director of Product and Development for TelePlus Consumer Services; Director of Investor Relations for TelePlus World Corp.; Director of Marketing for TelePlus Wireless Corp.; and Senior Vice President of One Bio Corp.
Jeanne has founded and co-founded several companies throughout her career, to name a few, Tai Pan Dry Cleaners; ICall Communications Inc.; TelePlus Retail Services; and now, returning to her grassroots interest, Matisse Hair. In her companies, Jeanne developed all the creative initiatives involved, such as logo designing; concept creation; brand building & recognition; social media ideas; product development; corporate image development; and public communications and relations.
